Drivers Wanted! COA needs volunteer drivers.
The Kingston Council on Aging is in need of volunteer drivers to deliver meals for our Meals on Wheels (MOW) program. Hunger is a serious threat that many older adults and individuals with disabilities are faced with. The nutrition service, Meals on Wheels, is provided Monday through Friday by home-delivery to individuals who are home-bound due to illness, disability, or geographic isolation. Receiving MOW allows for the participant to maintain a vital connection to their community and serves as a safety check by having a regular “visitor” to their home. All meals are pre-packaged, nutritionally sound, and planned by a registered dietitian each month.
Becoming a MOW driver is a great opportunity for individuals who work part-time and have a few hours available on select mornings, teachers who are off for the summer, retired adults who are looking to give back, or anyone who wants to help put a smile on the face of a senior in their community! The requirements to become a MOW driver are:
- Active Driver's License
- Successful completion of a background check (CORI)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Orientation/Training
- 2 hours per delivery route; Monday-Friday mornings approximately 9:00-11:00 am
