[ARCHIVED] February Art Gallery: Unwinding Patterns

February’s featured artist at the Kingston Public Library is Christine Ward as the exhibit is titled, “Unwinding Patterns.” The art on display this month is a display of her current exploration in acrylics, gouache, pastel and ink on canvas.

Ward has been creating art as far back as she can remember. Although watercolor is her constant medium, she has also worked with acrylic paints, clay, beads, photography, glass and paper. Color is what really brings her pieces to life. Ward applies her mediums carefully in layers creating a stunning result. She often adds additional pen or brush work as she progresses through her pieces to create the right balance for the eye. Each piece is unique and an evolution from the last. Some created elements are repeated in her work, but each time creating a completely different perspective.

Ward has served on the National Design Committee for Creative Memories and taught dozens of adults and children about scrapbooking and photo preservation in the early 2000’s. Most recently, she has taught beading and card making classes, and volunteered as a set designer for the Silver Lake Middle School. Ward dabbles in a lot of artistic forms with a goal of conveying a positive emotion in anyone who experiences the end result.

The exhibit will be on view in the library's gallery throughout February. The library is open Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays 10 AM to 5 PM and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 10 AM to 8 PM.
