[ARCHIVED] November Art Gallery: "Panoramic World" by Anita Uhlan

Acrylic painting of Adam at the November Kingston Library art exhibit of Anita UhlanThe art gallery at Kingston Public Library will be hosting "Panoramic World" by Anita Uhlan for the month of November 2022.

Uhlan grew up on Long Island, New York in a little town called Sag Harbor. She was lucky enough to be in an environment of music, art, photography, and books. In high school, she graduated with three majors: art, science and math. Uhlan attended BOCES (Adult Education) and received a Journeyman’s Certificate in Offset Lithography and then moved to Connecticut. She worked as Production Manager at Kopple Color Graphics, Hamden, Connecticut for the production of films for printing of magazines including, Yacht Racing, Tennis Magazine and Rock Scene Magazine. She attended Paier College, taking graduate classes in Fine Art. Uhlan changed her career path, accepting a position at Martinez-Couch and Associates (MCA) to lead the Environmental Department under Richard Couch, P.E. In 2006, she left MCA to work for FEMA as an Environmental and Historic Preservation Advisor to Federal Coordinating Office. She retired in 2019.

Encouraged by her friend and artist, Charlie Sorrento, Uhlan began to paint again, this time using acrylics. Her first few pieces, (This Buds for You, Eve, Peonies) were done to practice different techniques using acrylics. Many pieces were experiments. Uhlan is still pushing her boundaries with every new painting. Her favorite artists are the impressionists and abstract artists. Her style can be realistic, impressionist, abstract, or a combination.

The exhibit will be on view in the Library's gallery throughout the month of November. The Kingston Public Library is open Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
