The Town of Kingston has been awarded a Complete Streets grant in the amount of $399,599 from MassDOT. Complete Streets grants are awarded to fund local multimodal infrastructure projects that improve travel for bicyclists, pedestrians, public transit users, and people using other forms of transportation.
Kingston’s grant award will implement pedestrian improvements at the intersection of Route 106, Route 27, and Evergreen Street. The work includes reconstruction of sidewalks, construction of a new curb extension, curb radii tightening, new ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps, relocation and addition of crosswalks, installation of pedestrian signal equipment, and other incidental work to improve the Route 106 (Wapping Road/Main Street) at Route 27 (Pembroke Street) and Evergreen Street intersection.
Work is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2022.
